A BYU professor’s take on Romans Part 4

This week Bill and Eric take a closer look at an article published in the August 2023 Liahona magazine by Dr. Jason R. Combs. What he writes sounds very evangelical as the BYU professor sounds like he has a good grasp on justification and never once cites the LDS unique standard works or any of his leaders. But the sidebars (possibly written by LDS Church magazine staff?) seem to give it away. We hope you enjoy this!

Boyack speaking up Part 4

Is those who disagree with Mormonism just creating “lies”? An article in the August 2023 Liahona magazine titled “Speaking up for Truth” is a faith-promoting piece that makes this appear to be the case. The article’s intent is to have Latter-day Saints defend the faith, but what are the problems? Bill and Eric check it out.

Temple open houses Part 5

One of our favorite evangelism tactics is to go to temple open house events all over the United States. In May and June, MRM’s Eric Johnson participated with two friends in three different events. This week he talks about what took place in Utah, Montana, and Arkansas, with discussion with Bill McKeever about why we think these are worth the time and money to go to.

The New Utah Christian Research Center Part 5

We have a new facility! So very excited to announce that on Tuesday, August 1st, we are getting the keys to a 2300-square foot building in Draper, UT called the Utah Christian Research Center. We will have a bookstore (books on Mormonism–both scholarly and from a Christian viewpont), an LDS library avaiable for public research, a Bible museum, and a classroom. We hope to open by the end of the year.

Maybe you’d like to help us raise $25,000 in the next month as we need to purchase a variety of things for the inside of the building. (See UtahChristianResearchCenter.com for the specifics.) If you give $300 or more for this project, we will send you a page of your choosing from our 1630 King James Version of the Bible–visit mrm.org/1630-bible to see which pages are left.

To donate, visit mrm.org/donate. Thank you to everyone who donated to help us purchase this building. Without you, this would have never been possible!
